Children with dyslexia need more than extra help.
They need reading taught explicitly, in a clear order, by someone who knows the method. We saw the gap every day at the special reading school where we taught: children getting extra support, but not the specific reading intervention that dyslexia calls for.
The Reading Academy programme closes that gap. It was developed by two specialist teachers with more than 35 years' combined experience teaching at a school dedicated entirely to children with dyslexia. It is informed by Orton-Gillingham principles. Our tutor training teaches you how to deliver it.

Hello! We're Sarah and Sarah
In the roles of acting principal and teachers, our eyes were opened to the lack of support for students with dyslexia outside the special reading school where we were teaching. Parents were left without reading intervention options, in and out of their child's school.
We quickly learned that teacher colleges/ universities rarely train teachers on how to specifically teach students with dyslexia and that most programmes on the market do not meet individuals with dyslexia’s needs. They don't teach students in a direct, explicit manner. We knew we had to create a comprehensive reading programme that followed the Orton-Gillingham approach and use our expertise to teach students with dyslexia how to read. We were so excited when The Reading Academy officially opened its doors in September 2015! We will never forget the queue of parents and children on our first Open Day!
Since we started our first classes, more than 1000 children have benefitted from our programme. As well as teaching children, we have trained more than 100 teachers and tutors in using The Reading Academy Programme, who now offer individual and small-group classes in both school and private settings.
